Description:

Join us for an informative look at the State of LGBT Equality in Michigan with Emily Dievendorf. In her presentation Emily will focus on the current state of LGBT rights in Michigan and discuss the prevailing dialogue surrounding social justice within the new political climate. She will also address policy and grassroots efforts that are working for change in Michigan.

Meetings are open to the Public. A moderated discussion will follow the lecture.

About Emily Dievendorf

Director of Policy and Lobbyist, Equality Michigan

Emily Dievendorf is Director of Policy for Equality Michigan, where advocates and helps move issues of interest to the Michigan lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community to the forefront of public policy. Prior to joining Equality Michigan, Emily worked in the Michigan House of Representatives, since 2003, for two Democratic state legislators. While the legislature offered several varied policy areas to fascinate, Emily’s primary focus in her community and in her vision for the future always remained rooted in a commitment to advancing civil rights causes. Emily graduated from James Madison College at Michigan State University with a degree in social relations, and when not working tries to indulge her science geek side or her inner arts addict.
