Enjoy a day outdoors this fall while making a difference by joining a team of volunteers for the Seidman Park Trail Building Project! Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 10 am to 1 pm.
This project will be to help build, repair and/or re-naturalize trail sections at Seidman Park! A workshop and training are included to learn how to support ecologically sustainable trails. All supplies and tools are provided. This is a family friendly event.
Naturalizing trails involves various methods that include: scarifying trails using hard rakes and other tools; moving logs and branches over the trial to discourage use and to aid in adding decomposing debris; replanting various species to create a natural blending into the adjacent landscape, moving debris like leaves and sticks to cover the bare ground, possibly moving some rocks to prevent run off erosion, etc. Since there are so many different methods, volunteers can choose which type of work fits with their physical abilities.
