Description:

Our topic for this meeting was “Separation of Church & State” and was presented by Dirk Nebbeling. This took the place of a different topic that was originally to be presented by Professor Carl Bajema. Dirk mentioned the long history he and Prof. Bajema had had, including their joint establishment of the Humanist Fellowship of Grand Rapids, a branch of the American Humanist Association. Many of the original members of FAOWM came out of the H.F. of G.R.

About Dirk Dirk Nebbeling

teacher, educator in Grand Rapids

Dirk began his schooling at a Dutch Christian School in the 30’s, during the Depression. Dirk reflected on the relative uniformity of students there as to heritage, culture, beliefs, religious upbringing, and ethnicity. He has lived in this area all his life and was both educated and an educator in Grand Rapids.
