About Jeffrey Falick
Rabbi, Birmingham Temple Congregation for Humanistic Judaism
Jeffrey L. Falick is the Secular Humanistic rabbi of The Birmingham Temple Congregation for Humanistic Judaism in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Originally a member of the liberal theistic Reform Jewish denomination, Jeff became involved in Humanistic Judaism in 2009 after a lifetime of searching and questioning. In service to Secular Humanistic Judaism, he has served on the executive committees of the Association of Humanistic Rabbis and the Society for Humanistic Judaism. Jeff is an ardent advocate for immigrant and refugee rights (among other issues) and his community involvement includes service on the advisory board of the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights, the advisory board of Muslimish, and the board of directors of Freedom House Detroit. Jeff received his B.A. (1984) from the University of Texas at Austin, and his M.A. (1987) and rabbinical ordination (1989) from the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio. When not busy with his responsibilities, he and his husband Arthur Liebhaber are frequent visitors to the D.C. / Baltimore area where their children Ilana Falick and Aliza (Jason) Mann live, mostly to visit their new grandson Jack.
