Description:

There is no place in Michigan is more than 80 miles from one of the Great Lakes, so many Michigan policies affect the state of the Great Lakes. Fortunately, there is a strong stewardship advocacy impulse in Michigan, to keep this wonderful resource beneficial and safe for all. Cyndi Roper provided some further statistics about the Great Lakes (be mindful that this Secretary had to rely solely on handwritten notes taken, as there was no other paperwork to draw from) included that they contain six quadrillion (a six followed by 15 zeros) gallons of water, 95% of the US freshwater supply is in the Great Lakes and that if spread evenly over the country, it would be submerged in 9 and a half feet of water.
