About Figen Mekik, PhD

Associate Professor of Geology, Grand Valley State University

With prior experience as a visiting scientist in the department of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of British Columbia and in the department of Marine Chemistry at Woods Hole Oceanography Institution, professor Mekik is currently a tenured Associate Professor of Geology at Grand Valley State University. In addition to Climate Change, her research interests include such topics as Paleooceanography and Marine Biogeochemistry. A popular teacher, Dr. Mekik was recently nominated by her students to deliver a talk in Grand Valley State’s “Last Lecture” series.
