Description:

The topic for this meeting was Freethought Women Throughout History. It was presented by Valerie Wilkes, Ed.D., NOW (National Organization of Women). Dr. Wilkes is a graduate of Baylor University and an educator. She recently has moved back to Muskegon after living in Texas for many years and is an adjunct professor at MCC and Baker College, where she teaches future educators. Dr. Wilkes’ presentation to us was based on the book: Women Without Superstition; No Gods—No Masters by Annie Laurie Gaylor of the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF). The title of Ms Gaylor’s book was derived from two sources. Margaret Sanger (Woman of the Century and reproductive Rights crusader) gave us No Gods—No Masters as a motto in the Woman Rebel, and we have Women Without Superstition from Eva Ingersoll.
