The Ideas of Samuel Huntington were presented by long time member, Dennis Murphy. While Huntington authored his paper and book on the interactions of civilizations along cultural fault lines before the events of 9/11 and our war in Iraq, it was these events that made Dennis think that the time is right to discuss Huntington’s ideas. Huntington presented his scholarly paper in the 1993 Foreign Affairs Journal with the idea of informing policy makers of potential dangers and opportunities ahead. The book that grew out of it, The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order, was published in 1996.
