Description:

Café Inquiry is a casual event starting with a short 10-15 minute introduction of the day’s topic followed by open discussion. At 12:00pm we will break for coffee/brunch and a chance to socialize.

This March our own Erica Allen will discuss the often controversial topic of transgenderism. On March 10 she will lead the discussion on the science of transgenderism. Attendees who wish to prepare for the discussion are encouraged to read some short articles on the day’s topic:

20 Gene Variants and Transgender Identity: What Does It Mean? by Ricki Lewis, Ph.D. on PLOS Blogs.

Should — and could — uterine transplantation be an option for transgender women? on helio.com.

Gender-Bending Genes and the Future of the Sex Change by Therese Lawry in the 2012-2013 edition of Prized Writing.

Members are welcome to propose and schedule a topic which would be of interest toward establishing a secular society based on science, reason, freedom of inquiry, and humanist values. Please contact us if you have a topic that you would like to discuss at an upcoming Café Inquiry.

Café Inquiry (Grand Rapids) meets on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.

To find the group go to studio located in the back right corner of the bookstore (not the café).

Food & Beverages are available for purchase.
