Activities spearheaded by American Atheists include bringing attention to the plight of a political dissident imprisoned in Pakistan for voicing his religious convictions that ran contrary to the established ones of his homeland; being directly involved in Church/ State separation cases and other infringements on the Establishment Clause, addressing the Clinton White House on issues pertaining to the rights of Atheists and producing the televised program, “The Atheists’ Viewpoint.”

About Ellen Johnson, MA

President of American Atheists, Executive Director of the Godless Americans Political Action Committee (GAMPAC)

Ellen Johnson received her Masters Degree in Political Science from the New School for Social Research in New York. She was the Chairwoman of the Godless Americans March on Washington (GAMOW) Task Force, which in November of ‘02, brought thousands of non- theists of all stripes to the nation’s capitol for an unprecedented demonstration of unity in that call for acknowledgment in our country. Johnson also testified before the National Commission on Civil Rights, concerning the problem of religious proselytizing in the public schools. Ms. Johnson is a leading advocate of cooperation and mutual respect within America’s diverse Atheist- nonbelievers community. She serves as Executive Director of the Godless Americans Political Action Committee (GAMPAC), a nationwide initiative seeking to elect Atheists to public office.
